About Hoosier Medicaid Solutions
Every Family Deserves an Advocate.
My name is Angel Mikusak, and I founded Hoosier Medicaid Solutions because I believe no family should have to navigate the long-term care and Medicaid system alone.
For years, I have helped Indiana families understand Medicaid eligibility, long-term care planning, waiver programs, appeals, and the complex decisions that come with aging, disability, and chronic illness. During that time, I worked alongside attorneys, healthcare providers, nursing facilities, and state agencies to help families find solutions during some of life's most difficult moments.
Then everything became personal.
When my father became seriously ill, my family was suddenly living the same experience I had helped countless clients navigate. We faced difficult decisions about long-term care, Medicaid eligibility, protecting a lifetime of hard work, and ensuring both of my parents would have the resources and care they needed for whatever the future held.
We made those decisions carefully, thoughtfully, and with a plan.
Then life changed in a way none of us expected.
While we were caring for my father, my mother became critically ill. Her decline was rapid, and our focus shifted from planning for the future to making every single day count. We walked through hospitalizations, rehabilitation, hospice care, and ultimately the heartbreaking loss of my mother.
During that time, my sister, Crystal Wadsworth, and I had to put our own lives on a hard pause to help care for our parents during the most difficult chapter of their lives. Together, we experienced firsthand what families endure when they are suddenly faced with long-term care decisions, hospice, grief, mountains of paperwork, and the emotional weight of trying to do the right thing for the people they love.
No amount of professional knowledge or preparation could fully prepare us for what it felt like to experience the system as daughters and caregivers.
What gave us peace during that incredibly difficult time was knowing that we had already done some of the planning. Because many decisions had been made before the crisis, my father's Medicaid coverage remained intact, the resources my parents had worked a lifetime to build were preserved within the law, and our family was able to focus on caring for one another instead of scrambling through a financial emergency.
That experience reinforced something I have always believed:
Behind every Medicaid case is a family.
A husband trying to care for his wife.
A daughter trying to honor her parents.
A son overwhelmed by unfamiliar rules and impossible decisions.
Every application represents someone's life, someone's future, and someone's hope for stability.
That is why Hoosier Medicaid Solutions exists.
Today, Crystal serves as our Director of Client Services & Operations, helping ensure that every family receives compassionate, organized, and responsive support from the very first phone call. Together, we combine professional experience with personal understanding because we have lived many of the same challenges our clients are facing.
We also understand that Medicaid and long-term care matters do not always fit neatly into one professional category. A family's situation may involve estate planning, property ownership, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianship, probate, or other legal concerns in addition to Medicaid eligibility. When legal documents must be prepared or additional legal advice is needed, we help clients connect with qualified attorneys within our extended network of professional resources. We also work alongside our clients' existing attorneys, providing Medicaid-focused information, case coordination, and practical support as part of a collaborative professional team.
Hoosier Medicaid Solutions does not replace legal counsel or prepare legal instruments. Instead, we help families recognize when legal guidance may be necessary and facilitate the right professional connection so that each part of the family's situation receives appropriate attention. We understand the complexities of protecting a family's resources, preserving future options, and planning for the care of the people they love.
Our goal is not simply to complete paperwork. Our goal is to educate, guide, advocate, and help families understand their options so they can make informed decisions with confidence. We draw upon a broader network of attorneys, healthcare professionals, care providers, financial professionals, and community resources when a client's needs extend beyond our direct services.
Whether you are planning ahead, facing a nursing home admission, applying for Medicaid, appealing a denial, or simply trying to understand what comes next, you deserve someone who will listen, explain, coordinate, and stand beside you throughout the process.
We built Hoosier Medicaid Solutions to be that advocate.
Experience. Guidance. Results.
Because every family deserves an advocate.
